Homme House Wedding Photographer
You can’t pose laughter.
I’ve photographed weddings at Homme House, a family-owned country house at Much Marcle in rural Herefordshire, close to the Gloucestershire border. It’s a place where couples have the run of the house and grounds, which suits my relaxed, documentary way of working perfectly.
About Homme House
- The house: Grade II* listed, set in 180 acres of gardens, historic parkland and woodland, with views towards the Malvern Hills and the Cotswolds.
- Exclusive use: a limited number of weddings each year, mainly between April and October. The family has hosted weddings since 2004.
- Civil ceremonies: four interior spaces are licensed.
- Church weddings: 13th-century St Bartholomew’s is about 1,000m away at the end of the parkland drive and has a 400-year connection with the house. All Saints Church at Yatton is a few miles away.
- Getting there: Ledbury station, with mainline trains from Birmingham and London, is about five miles away.
Facts are from the Homme House website (October 2026). Check current details with the venue.
Photo spots and light
The churchyard at St Bartholomew’s is home to the famous 1,000-year-old Marcle yew, and the venue suggests its hollow trunk as a photo spot after a church service. Back at the house, the parkland drive and long views across the estate make a lovely backdrop for unhurried couple portraits, with plenty of space for natural group photos on the lawns.
How I’d approach the day
A church ceremony followed by a reception at the house means a short move mid-afternoon, so I plan the day with you in advance to know where to be and when. On the day I keep out of the way, gather your groups efficiently and let the rest of the day unfold naturally.
Practical tips
- The venue advises that the postcode isn’t reliable for sat-navs and suggests navigating to St Bartholomew’s Church, Much Marcle, so pass that on to guests.
- Taxis and local accommodation get booked up quickly here, so encourage guests to book early.
What couples say
